YOU can be a doula!
If you have the time, commitment, and stamina needed to stay continuously at someone’s side during childbirth, we'll provide the training and opportunity.
As a doula, you need a calming presence, but prior healthcare training or birth experience is NOT required.
We strive to welcome everyone, with the belief that birthing justice starts with with inclusion and diversity.
I was “losing it” until Kim arrived and helped me get back into the calm I needed. She was a blessing and I am so thankful UCSD has such a wonderful program available. - Maria
Thank you so much for your time and presence during our labor and surprise C-Section....you made the whole experience less stressful. - Ariana
…she knows the tricks, she knows the spots and simply she is good at this. We are truly indebted to her and the UCSD Med. Center for running this program. - Susan
I felt I had a team player help me understand my options and the pros and cons. Thank you very much for your help and warm presence. You struck a balance between an eagerness to serve and a respect for a couple’s intimacy. My fear that you’d try to take over was unfounded. - Derek, a new father
As a social worker, I have the perspective to see what a unique role a doula can play in the life of a woman. She can provide support at a very specific time in her life without any strings attached. - Virgi (UCSD Social Worker)
We love working with our doulas! - Sarah, RN
